Francesco Stefanini. In Time. Works 1972 – 2022

Francesco Stefanini, From the Window, 2007-2022, Stucco, pigments and oil on canvas, 150 × 200 cm

The fifty works on display at the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation - mostly large canvases - retrace five decades of the career of Francesco Stefanini, a Tuscan-Venetian artist, born and raised in Pietrasanta and then settled in the Treviso area. The exhibition, curated by Stefano Cecchetto, illustrates a chronological path backwards, starting from the last important paintings to then reach the cycles of the Eighties and Nineties and open a window on the symbols of the Seventies. The time travel is also material, and leads back to the dawn of Stefanini's art, born from wooden matrices, to which geometric shapes have been added over the years, to evoke the Tuscan marble quarries, gradually dissolved in pure color, vibrant essence of a "landscape without territory", within which the harmonious dialogue in progress between nature and painting takes place, to become a thought of light.
